The named-checkzone command

Validates a DNS zone file: checks that it has SOA and NS and that the syntax is correct.

Syntax

named-checkzone <zona> <fichero>

$ named-checkzone aula.local /etc/bind/db.aula.localValidate the zone

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • Every zone needs an SOA record and at least one NS.
