Syntax

openssl <subcomando>

$ openssl versionVersion
$ openssl rand -hex 88 random bytes
$ openssl passwd secretoPassword hash

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • dgst -sha256 file computes the hash; useful to verify integrity.
