The resolvectl command

Shows and tests name resolution from systemd-resolved. With query it resolves a name.

Syntax

resolvectl [status|query <nombre>|flush-caches]

Copy-ready examples

$ resolvectl statusDNS servers
$ resolvectl query localhostResolve a name

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • It is the modern replacement of nslookup on systemd systems.
