The audio normalizer adjusts your file's perceived loudness (measured in LUFS) to a specific standard, instead of just raising or lowering the overall volume. It's the same technique streaming platforms use so every song or episode sounds at a consistent volume relative to each other. Choose the preset for your case: -16 LUFS for podcast (the most common standard for voice), -14 LUFS for music (what Spotify and YouTube Music use) or -23 LUFS for broadcast, the EBU R128 standard used in TV and radio. The process runs with FFmpeg's loudnorm filter, compiled to WebAssembly, entirely in your browser.

  • Loudness normalization, not just peak

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between normalizing and just raising the volume?

Raising the volume multiplies everything equally. Normalizing (loudnorm) analyzes the perceived loudness of the whole audio and adjusts it more intelligently to the chosen standard, avoiding distortion.

Which preset should I choose?

Podcast (-16 LUFS) for voice and spoken episodes, Music (-14 LUFS) if you're uploading to Spotify or YouTube, Broadcast (-23 LUFS) for TV/radio.

Is my audio uploaded to a server?

No. It's processed with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser.
