How to use the IP lookup tool?

  1. 1

    See your own IP

When you open the tool, your public IP is automatically detected and shown along with country, city, internet provider and timezone. No input needed.

  2. 2

    Look up a specific IP

Type any IPv4, IPv6 or domain name in the search field and press Search or Enter. The tool will immediately look up the geolocation for that IP.

  3. 3

    Review the geographic information

You'll see the country, region, city and postal code associated with the IP. If coordinates are available, a direct link appears to view the location on OpenStreetMap.

  4. 4

    Check ISP and timezone

The tool shows the internet provider name (ISP), the autonomous network ASN number and the timezone with the corresponding UTC offset.

What data does an IP lookup show?

An IP geolocation lookup can reveal the following information about any public IP address:

IP address

The exact IPv4 or IPv6 address being queried.

Country and country code

The country where the IP is registered (e.g. Spain, ES).

Region

The administrative region within the country (e.g. Castilla-La Mancha).

City

The approximate city associated with the provider's IP block.

ISP (Internet provider)

The name of the internet provider or organization controlling that IP.

ASN

Autonomous System Number — the unique identifier of the provider's network.

Timezone

The timezone corresponding to the geographic location of the IP.

Coordinates

Approximate latitude and longitude to view the location on a map.

Frequently asked questions

What is an IP address?

An IP address (Internet Protocol) is a unique number that identifies each device connected to the internet. IPv4 addresses have the format 192.168.1.1 and IPv6 are longer like 2001:db8::1. Your internet provider assigns you a public IP that is visible to the sites you visit.

What information does my IP reveal?

Your public IP reveals approximately your country, region and city, your internet provider (ISP) and your network ASN number. It does not reveal your exact postal address, name or personal data. Accuracy varies and is typically at city or region level.

Why doesn't my IP match my exact location?

Geolocation data is approximate and based on IP assignment records, not GPS. Accuracy is typically at city level. Mobile operator or VPN IPs may show unexpected locations, as the IP may be assigned in a different city.

What is an ASN?

An ASN (Autonomous System Number) is a unique number assigned to an autonomous network on the internet, typically an internet provider, hosting company or large corporation. For example, AS3352 corresponds to Telefónica de España. Useful for identifying the origin of suspicious traffic.

Does the tool log the IPs queried?

No. Queries are processed in real time and no search history is stored. Geolocation information comes from ipapi.co, a widely used public IP geolocation service.
