Calculating an age or the days between two dates seems trivial until different month lengths, leap years or holidays come into play. This calculator breaks the age down into real years, months and days, shows the running total and works out how many days remain until the next birthday. For work purposes it counts the days between two dates excluding weekends and Spain's national holidays, and lets you add or subtract business days to a date to know when a deadline falls.

Frequently asked questions
How is the exact age in years, months and days calculated?
It starts from the birth date and advances in whole months up to the calculation date, adjusting the day when the month has no such date (for example, someone born on 31 January has their 'month' in February on the 28th or 29th). The remaining days are then counted. This avoids the common mistake of dividing days by 365.
Does it include my region's or city's holidays?
No. Only Spain's national holidays apply (1 and 6 January, Good Friday, 1 May, 15 August, 12 October, 1 November, 6 and 8 December and 25 December). Regional and local holidays vary and are not discounted.
How are leap years handled?
The calculation uses real calendar dates, so 29 February is accounted for automatically. Someone born on 29 February has their birthday countdown land on 28 February in non-leap years for this tool.
Are my dates sent to a server?
No. All calculation runs in your browser with pure JavaScript and the holidays are generated locally. There are no network requests and no data storage.
