The add-apt-repository command

Adds a repository (PPA) to the APT sources so you can install from it.

Syntax

sudo add-apt-repository [--remove] ppa:usuario/repo

Most useful options

--removeRemove the repository

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pruebas/ppaAdd a PPA

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • It only adds the source; you must refresh with apt update.
