The pvs command

Summarizes the physical volumes (PV), their group and size.

Syntax

pvs

Copy-ready examples

$ sudo pvcreate /dev/sdbCreate a PV
$ sudo pvsSummary

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • The VG column stays empty until the PV joins a group.
