The pvdisplay command

Shows the details of each physical volume: size, extent and group.

Syntax

pvdisplay

Copy-ready examples

$ sudo pvcreate /dev/sdbCreate a PV
$ sudo pvdisplaySee details

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • A PE (Physical Extent) is usually 4 MiB.
