The pvremove command

Removes the LVM label from a physical volume to reuse the disk.

Syntax

sudo pvremove <dispositivo>

Copy-ready examples

$ sudo pvcreate /dev/sdbCreate a PV
$ sudo pvremove /dev/sdbRemove it

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • You cannot remove it if it belongs to a volume group.
