The vgcreate command

Creates a volume group (VG) grouping one or more PVs.

Syntax

sudo vgcreate <grupo> <dispositivo...>

Copy-ready examples

$ sudo pvcreate /dev/sdbPrepare the PV
$ sudo vgcreate datos /dev/sdbCreate the group

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • The VG joins the space of all its PVs into one pool.
