The pvcreate command

Prepares a disk or partition as a physical volume (PV) to use with LVM.

Syntax

sudo pvcreate <dispositivo...>

Copy-ready examples

$ sudo pvcreate /dev/sdbPrepare a disk
$ sudo pvsCheck

You can try them in the browser terminal: it does not touch your computer.

Typical mistakes

  • You must prepare the PVs before creating a volume group (VG).
